g h o s t S T A R--x The sun was rising in the east and everything was becoming brighter and brighter by the minute. Although nighttime was his favorite time of day, the sunrise was wonderful too. The silvery brown tom walked through the forest, glancing around, his senses alert for any signs of prey. He sighed and laid down next to the Raging River, glancing at his reflection in the water. The peaceful sounds of the water soothed him. His lids began to get heavy and he nearly drifted off, but he managed to stay awake.
Ghoststar felt so lonely being leader of Riverclan. He didn't get to talk to anyone much anymore since he had his solitary den. He stood, stretching, and lashed his paw into the water, catching a fish and tossing it up on the ground next to the river.

ICEHEART ! her cold countenance was blank as white aural swiveled. cerulean optics took in the horizon as light radiated from the ever-rising sun, little letting one know that she was actually quite aware of things around her. the diamond superiority in her gaze was unmatched by much others. then again, being deputy always came with some sort of incidental pride (or so she heard). the gleam in her eyes could be labeled sinister or caustic, as if she was a mischievous kitten about to do some sort of foul deed without her mother knowing. the superior femme had been awake for hours on end, never resting once. this sunrise was a new beginning for her, a reward. she had lasted another day in this vile world - all without the urge of a supporting paw.
a twitch of whiskers was the only gesture of curiousity iceheart was willing to allow herself to make. there, in the distance, was the outline of a cat. probably a warrior edging its way into the cold heart of riverclan's harsh deputy and it's leader. trying to prove themselves by hunting by sunrise - iceheart wasn't a fan of favoritism and was certainly not a fan of others sucking up - and she wouldn't have a moment more of it. she lifted her sodden paws, a sarcastic smirk already beginning at the edges of her pure maw. despite her annoyance at the thought of a cat trying to wheedle its way into riverclan's thought, there was also a quirk of intrigue at her brow. she silently observed, before taking a few quick pawsteps. dainty as a dancer, and yet her tongue was as sharp as a dagger - quite a combination, especially for the deputy of riverclan.
as she approached, she noticed that it wasn't just another suck-up, loserish warrior - nothing of the sort. this was royalty - a fine-bred tom, graced with starclan's best gift and curse: nine lives. this was ghostspirit -- no, ghoststar -- her leader. it was sort of hard for the pallid femme to think of something as her leader, for she had spent so many moons thinking that she was a free spirit, wandering about alone for so many moons with only her good will to guide her into doing what was right. she certainly hadn't been one of those goody-goody apprentices, or one of those apprentices who always got in trouble. she did things her own way, her mentor did things his way, and they were all pleased with what occurred. now that she was deputy of riverclan itself, she had to live under the law - a restraint cut a bit too short for her own taste. but this was her clan, and someone had to be ready for the moment that the current leader dropped dead. not likely to happen, but one must be prepared for anything.
wandering forth, she watched as the leader gracefully lashed a single paw into the water, easefully retrieving a fish on its way out. she found herself basking in the light of admiration, only to snap herself out of it. c'mon, iceheart. just because he's the leader doesn't mean you can let him step you up. you're iceheart. you can't be distracted. not now that you've got such an important position. with a little twitch of her appendage, she stepped forward, observing the fish ghoststar had caught moments before. a little twitch of her tail-tip accentuated her approval, and without a proper greeting, she purred, "nice catch. get up this early that often for such pretty little things?"
sure, the question was blunt - but so was iceheart, and she was not the type to wait around and spew formalities from her maw. no. if ghoststar had been looking for that type of girl, he had been sadly mistaken to pick her.

G H O S T star;; He was a little surprised by the sudden appearance of a cat, but when he noticed it was his deputy, he relaxed. He furrowed his brow at her question though, and sighed.
"Actually, I prefer to not wake up so early, but I honestly have no choice, since I am leader and all. And, I actually just came out for a walk. I've got a lot of stuff on my mind."
He turned back to his fish and began to mess with it out of boredom. He also didn't want to look at Iceheart for he was afraid he may blush and she might notice. He found himself attracted to this she-cat and he didn't exactly notice it until now. Suddenly, his thoughts went back to Freezefang. She was also a rather conspicuously rude cat. He had somewhat fallen for her too, but his attraction to Iceheart was stronger and he could feel it. His tail swept back and forth as he continued to mess with his fish, protecting himself from embarrassment in front of the pretty femme.
He wondered what Freezefang was doing at this moment and wondered if she ever thought about him often. He honestly did not care at this point. He had his heart set on the Riverclan deputy from here on out. He knew that if Iceheart were to have kits, he would have to find a temporary deputy replacement. But, he wanted to be able to have kits with her. He could already tell that they would be lovely kits. He shook his head slightly, noticing that he was lost in thought.
"So, what are you doing out and about?" He asked her casually.

a simple twitch of whiskers was the only gesture that gave the leader any insight that she had perhaps heard him. quite for a few moments, she tilted her head slightly to the side, eyeing the fish that he was messing around with. perhaps if she were in a worse mood, she would have asked why he was messing around with the fish as if he were a kitten and the prey a mossball - but she didn't, and she wouldn't. after all, it was very early in the morning and he had already caught something. he deserved a break (even if other cats in the clan didn't - ghoststar was the leader and iceheart thought he deserved more than what others did, because he was so busy most of the time working for his clan while others giggled and played and pranced around.)
a little quirk of her brow and a smirk on her maw, she lifted her paw, licking off the gritty dirt on her digits. she sat down, lacing her ivory tail about her front paws and ran the now-clean nadir down her ears, cleaning in the midst of boredom. only after this did she respond to his words. "a lot of stuff on your mind, hm? care to elaborate, or is it top secret information?" sarcasm, as always - not biting, at least not yet. she watched him fiddle with the poor creature once more (with some sort of sadistic amusement, not really caring for the fish's wellbeing - by the end of today it would most likely be in someone's belly) and she allowed her mind to wander for a few more moments.
his next question took her by surprise, and she twitched her ears, contemplating giving the leader a snarky answer. that wouldn't go over to well - she could be as snarky as she wanted to be to her clanmates, but to ghoststar, such behavior would probably have consequences, and not simple ones, either. instead, she stuck to the truth. "ehh. i haven't been getting much sleep lately." lately being three days. but she didn't tell ghoststar that little bit of information. she didn't need anyone worrying about her.
