Silent as a shiftting shadow Darkstar moved through the long grass that made up the meadow. The wavy brown and yellow strands hid his tortie pelt well. His deep green and yellowed colored eyes were scanning for the slightest indication that Riverclan had crossed the border. So far they had not to his knowledge, which made him less tense. Darkstar didn`t long for a battle anytime soon, but he knew that it was imperitive that he watched the border. He would absolutly not tolerate any intruders, because they could pose a threat to Windclan, his family.
He had also taken the time to hunt earlier, and had a rabbit burried a bit further down the border so he could grab it later. Several other cats had accompanied him, and he knew they were around somewhere. He sat taking a moment to enjoy the quiet of the meadow he had known his while life. Bowing his head in thought, he silently prayed to Starclan that the meadow wouldn`t carry the taint or his warriors blood anytime soon. Death was not something worth fighting for, and he would happily die for his clan. Quick as a flash he stood with his ears high listening. He thought he had heard something.

A yellow shape slithered quickly through the tall grass. Just ahead was a small brown rabbit, hopping just out of reach. The slender feline snaked around rocks and jumped over trees, trying to keep the prey in sight. She noticed a small mound, lifting off from the ground. Keeping the rabbit in sight, she ran onto the mound, and took a leap into the air. She was just a mouse-length away when she landed back on the ground. She lashed out with claws unsheathed, but she only got fur instead. The yellow feline went into pursuit once more. But this she was so close...Just a little further.
Suddenly, a fishy smell reached her nostrils. Why would there be the scent of fish when she was nowhere near a river, unless? Brightstream immediately came to a halt right next to the border with Riverclan. Panting, she watched the rabbit on the other side of the border disappearing behind some bushes.
"Mousedung!" The creamy-yellow she-cat spat. "I was so close!" Normally, Brightstream wasn't the one to cuss, but she was frustrated that her near-catch was stopped due to the stupid border.
After a few heartbeats of catching her breath. She realized their was another scent beyond the fishy and rabbity ones. The scent was familiar, but she couldn't put her head around it. She turned her head in the direction of the smell and saw the tortoiseshell pelt of her leader, Darkstar, several fox-lengths away. Brightstream now remembered that she was on patrol with him.
She approached the Windclan leader, dipping her head in respect as she drew near. "H-hello, Darkstar," She mewed a bit nervously. Brightstream has never really felt comfortable around other cats, especially those of a higher authority. She then thought of what if he saw her chasing the rabbit and nearly crossing the border? "Um, I saw a rabbit and tried to catch it. But it ran over the Riverclan border before I could get it. I was able to stop before...crossing." Her voice trailed off, worried that she may get in some sort of trouble.
She then noticed that Darkstar was very close to the border, almost touching it. "Uh, is there trouble from Riverclan?" Her eyes showed with worry. She didn't like fighting, and also didn't want a battle to break out.
((I forgot to mention that Brightstream is somewhat of a worry-cat and dosen't like getting in trouble : P))
