normally the open moor was so inviting; grass waving it's greetings, sky stretching toward where the sun eventually drowns...drowns into a great pool of water, supposedly. no matter what any other cat said, it was hard to see past the horizon, the borders of the clans, the borders of the sky. it was hard to imagine another life out there, much less so much water...water that engulfed the sun and quenched the light and heat that radiated from it. skyseer let the earth walls of the den swallow her much the same, hoping that her nest would engulf her into a world of dreams and draw her away...away, at least, from the bright lights outside. normally she loved the light. normally she chased the skies. but today the sun burned, today her lean muscles were finally sore.
the deputy sighed and curled up in the den, cool earth sifting into her ruffled pelt. her tail flicked over her nose and she lay still for many moments. she barely inhaled, rarely exhaled. it was as if she was testing the silence in camp; silence never went uninterrupted around the windclan camp. she concentrated on the silence, the stillness; it calmed her down. slowly she won over her mind, told herself the story of everything being okay whenever she woke up. she had only been worrying too much, over-thinking every little obstacle.
she blinked softly, her amber eyes wide in the comforting darkness. she couldn't sleep, her body ached, but still her legs itched. she stood and paced the small earthy den, long strides. the itch went away, her ache remained. she was so restless, her mind was racing. maybe even her heart was racing. she could feel the blood pumping through her vessels. everything was suddenly very hot, she felt so alive. the den was so small, she felt the walls pressing in with the silence. and all she wanted to do was curl up and sleep. the she-cat stopped, shaking herself vigorously. this had to be her, at her worst. skyseer heaved a sigh, telling herself quietly that she wasn't so crazy. she sat, and made herself sit still.
